Transport Manager

As we strive forward with continual growth, we have an exciting opportunity to join us at our Holyhead Head Quarters. We are looking for a Transport Manager who will be equally passionate as we are about the service we deliver and proud to be part of the team.

Your Responsibilities

Operating Licence holder for Gwynedd Shipping in Holyhead
Effective management and leadership of transport team enter driver numbers/fleet and planning team
Providing daily, weekly and monthly reports in line with management and company requirements
Provide a culture of improvement and team effectiveness to ensure a strong team spirit and good team morale
Promote effective, positive communication with staff, managers, internal and external customer to ensure agreed service level achieved
You will be responsible for providing a highly efficient planning operation for the UK transport network that support seasonal trends and future growth for our customers. Youll lead the planning team through changes in operational practices, continuous improvement projects whilst ensuring the adherence to internal practices, transport and H&S regulations.
Works within compliance in regards to transport legislation for the transport operation, operating within the legislative requirements of DVSA and O-Licences
Enables Best in Class Transport solutions across a varied network and variety of customers
Leads Continuous Improvement by reviewing operational processes and proposing ongoing cost-effective solutions within a quality environment, ensuring best practice is shared and implemented
Carrying out team briefings and daily de-brief, monitoring team behaviour and performance and deal with any issues.
Ensure all health and safety obligations are met providing a legal and safe working environment that consistently exceeds quality standards
Responsible for taking care of the Health and Safety and to observe best practice and compliance with legislation in the protection of the environment and conservation of energy
Develop operational improvements through an effective trained/flexible workforce focused on delivering service improvements, accurate resource levels and cost reductions
Making sure vehicles are properly maintained with inspections and MOTs adhered too at all times
Management of the Workshop and ensuring all works carried out are to schedule and targets are met.
Maintaining and completing accurate records for all vehicles and trailers

Your Skills and Experiences

Essential for candidate to hold a Managers CPC National certificate, although would prefer Managers CPC International certificate
Proven Transport knowledge and experience. Excellent working knowledge of Transport legislation.
Flexible leadership style with ability to motivate staff to achieve results.
Proven leadership of a Planning function
Competent Numerate with good attention to detail.
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Competent Microsoft Office user including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Proven people management skills and experience.

The person:

Ability to demonstrate a significant improvement in service, cost and people development within previously managed sites in a network environment
Proven network logistics background
Proven commercial awareness
Experience of working to budgets, targets & KPIs
Familiar with costings models for profitability and new business
Experienced approach to prioritisation of daily tasks and keeping a cool head under pressure
Managing the department against cost, use detailed analysis to drive performance, identifying areas for improvement.
Knowledge of computerised scheduling and driver management packages an advantage

Salary: £32,000.00 - £37,000.00 dependant on experience. With pension scheme and death in service cover among other company benefits.

Contract type: Permanent. Youll work full time hours, Monday to Friday, hours to be agreed at interview. Potential for some flexibility with start and finish times.
