Muti-Drop Sprinter Driver

Charles Saunders Food Service are currently seeking a Full Time, Permanent, Muti-Drop Sprinter driver to join our busy transport team at our depot based in Poole.

Location: Charles Saunders Ltd, Newtown Business Park, Albion Close, Poole, BH12 3LL

Salary: £21,000.00 per annum plus monthly performance bonus upon successful completion of probationary period. (This is not a guaranteed bonus, details of how to achieve this will be available upon joining)

Hours: You will be required to work up to an average of 45 hours per week over a rolling 26 week period. Monday-Friday, 5:30am* to last drop (*Start time and finish time may vary depending on business requirements)

Probation Period: 6 Months

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Charles Saunders Ltd have been established in Bristol for over 50 years and have a satellite depot based in Poole. We supply a full range of frozen, chilled and ambient foods, frozen seafood, together with an extensive range of catering products. We are now looking to recruit another sprinter driver to join our existing team of drivers.

ABOUT THE POSITION
This position will involve driving a 3.5T vehicle to deliver goods to customers. This position will suit someone who has a full UK driving licence, is enthusiastic, has a flexible attitude and ideally has multi-drop experience.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Assisting with loading company vehicles, checking vehicle has been loaded appropriately and the load is secure.
Driving 3.5T company vehicles to deliver food and catering goods to customers in a safe and responsible manner
Bulk picking items from the back of a lorry and carrying goods to point requested by the customer
Recording temperature of the vehicles chiller and freezer ensuring temperatures are kept within the critical limits, reporting any issues to the Transport Management team.
Driving safely and in a manner to minimise wear and tear.
Ensure customers sign run sheets as proof of delivery, when unable to obtain a signature ring the accounts office to obtain a code to confirm okay to leave goods.
Complete credit or discrepancy notes ensuring both the customer and the depot have a copy.
Collect / handle customer accounts (cash and cheques) for goods delivered. Ensure no goods are left without payment for cash on delivery accounts, securely store any cash and cheques collected.
Pay any cash / cheques collected to the company on day of collection.
Completing relevant paperwork and returning it to the Transport department.
Ensuring your vehicle is kept clean and tidy inside and out.
To pass on any orders or messages from customers to a telesales operator and transport management team.

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

Drivers will be expected to have the following skills / attributes:

Must hold a full UK driving licence, and have less than 6 points on your driving licence.
Excellent driving skills in a variety of conditions, and must have knowledge of traffic laws and standard practices of courtesy on the road.
Individual commitment to providing superior customer service on a consistent basis.
Friendly disposition and excellent customer service skills.
Enthusiastic and Flexible Attitude.
Trustworthy and comfortable collecting and handling cash.
Be presentable to promote the company image in a positive manner.
You will need to be physically fit for this position as the job involves a lot of manual handling of heavy goods.
Ability to work to deadlines with strong problem solving skills.
Quick Learner.
Good level of numeracy and literacy, comfortable collecting and handling cash.
Understand the importance of quality procedures to ensure goods are delivered in a suitable condition
Experience of Multi-Drop delivering / food handling is desirable.
