Electricity Metering Engineer - Regional

North East England

An opportunity for a motivated and accomplished electricity engineer to become a part of our team, installing, maintaining and commissioning fiscal and secondary meters at our customers sites across the North East of England.

Representing the Company in a professional manner, we are looking for a self-motivated individual who is equally at home working alone and as part of a team. Ideal applicants will have relevant electricity metering experience.

They will also need to undertake training and authorisation courses at various times throughout their employment.

Starting salary will be circa £30k, dependant on experience and will be reviewed as each level of authorisation is obtained.

Company vehicle, laptop, mobile phone, ipad, test equipment and PPE will be provided.

Job Role

Specific Duties related to Fiscal metering

All fiscal metering works are to be carried out in accordance with MOCOP and relevant authorising body working practices.

The specific works involved are listed below:-

To carry out new meter installations from NHH whole current to LV CT metering as required by the company.
To carry out meter changes as above.
To investigate identify and rectify metering and or meter communication faults at sites as directed by the company and at all times in accordance with the above stipulations
To commission meters as directed.
To complete and submit (electronically) paperwork for each job.

Specific Duties related to Secondary metering

All secondary metering works are to be carried out in accordance with Company work instructions.

The specific works involved are listed below:-

To carry out new meter installations which may include multiple meter panels.
To prepare and install appropriate wiring for current transformers and mains supply to panel.
To investigate identify and rectify metering and or meter communication faults at sites as directed by the company and at all times in accordance with the above stipulations
To commission meters as directed.
To complete and submit (electronically) paperwork for each job.
To conduct site surveys to identify secondary metering requirements as directed by the Company.

Engineer will be audited on a regular basis.

The engineer will be required to maintain issued stock levels of meters and associated equipment and complete stock takes as required.

Qualifications/Experience

Candidates should be qualified (eg 17th edition, apprenticeship or similar) and experienced electrical engineers with electricity metering experience to at least an LV CT operated meter level. HV metering experience would be preferred, but not essential at this stage. An engineer is currently required to carry out works across the North East of England, ideally based around the Durham area.

Basic starting salary £29K - £30K dependent upon experience (this will be reviewed with achievement of additional authorisations). Overtime is available. Workplace pension subject to completion of probationary period, which will be of three months duration. This is a permanent position subject to the probationary period.
