Electrical Design Engineer

This is an excellent opportunity to work for a fast-paced leading manufacture and engineering company who invest in talent and promote internal development and career progression. LCA Group are a growing business which has a focus on Talent & Technology and are looking for multiple Design Engineers to join our growing engineering team.

The person filling this role will work within a design team instructed by a Team Manager and the Manufacturing Director.

LCA Group have a wide client base and growing project portfolio which includes design requirements for LV (typically 230Vac and 400Vac), building services, Security and Control systems. Depending on experience you may be asked to work on one or multiple projects and sectors or assigned to a particular large-scale project.

The preferred qualifications and experience are listed below:

Preferred Qualifications:

HNC/HND in an Electrical Engineering discipline.
BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition.
5+ years experience as an electrical design engineer using a proprietary electrical CAD/CAE package (for example ePlan, Solidworks Electrical etc).

Desirable Qualifications:

Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Experience in Control Panel design (in accordance with EN60204 and international standards)
Experience in LV distribution/MCC design
Functional Safety experience (EN 13849 /EN 62061)
AutoCAD Level 2 (or equivalent)

Skills:

Can do work attitude with great work ethic and communication skills.
Working knowledge of Low Voltage design principles, regulations and standards including BS 7671 and the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations
Able to perform electrical installation calculations (including cable sizing, volt drop, control panel temperatures etc)
Able to size and select electrical switchgear
Able to use CAD/CAE tools such as AutoCAD, Solidworks and/or Eplan preferable.
Ability to work to a deadline.
Efficient worker able to produce designs in accordance with LCA Group and client standards in accordance with programme and hours budget.

Duties:

Work within a team and competent of understanding and complying with client scope and specification documents.
Production of specification and commissioning documentation
Production of manufacture designs including:
E-plan Pro Panel
E-plan schematics & process wire
Heat dissipation calculations
Bill of Materials
Automated reports
Provide technical support to manufacturing and testing staff.
Review and approve designs produced by others to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, applicable standards and industry good practice.
Be required to visit site in order to carry out surveys to enable designs to be produced, and to provide designer input during installation.
Liaise with the Client and the Implementation team as required.
Review design documentation and drawings in accordance with LCA Group review procedures.
Review as-built red-lined drawings returned from site and Electrical Installation Testing Certification, and ensure all final drawings and documentation comply with applicable specifications and accurately reflect the site build status.

Salary banding - £35,000 - £45,000 (Dependant on experience & qualifications)
